Safiyya Vorajee

Safiyya Vorajee

Bestselling author, philanthropist, brand ambassador and childhood cancer activist.

Born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire (United Kingdom), following the tragic loss of her eight-month-old daughter Azaylia in 2021, Safiyya co-founded The Azaylia Foundation, a charity dedicated to changing the systemic underfunding of childhood cancer - the number one killer of children in the UK - through grant giving and advocacy.

Her first book, Loving and Losing You, Azaylia, was a bestseller on Amazon. With over a million followers on social media, Safiyya regularly advocates for childhood cancer, managing grief and improving mental health, and has worked as an ambassador for several brands including Glade, Shark and Abbott Lyon.

Through The Azaylia Foundation, Safiyya is the driving force of Wear Orange for Azaylia (WOFA), a yearly non-uniform day in schools dedicated to promoting kindness, inclusivity and mutual support amongst children, while at the same time engaging with parents and teachers to understand the consequences of the funding shortfalls in childhood cancer. In 2024, WOFA will introduce PhDs scholars and researchers funded by the foundation to inspire kids towards STEM from an early age.

Safiyya received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from Coventry University in 2023 for her contribution to childhood cancer, and was recognised by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as an inspiring leader and Point of Light for International Women’s Day in 2024.
